The Taigah Alexis Brown Foundation
Taigah was a ray of light in the lives of everyone she knew. Born in Berkeley, CA to Nydia Price (mom) and Ty Jamal Brown (dad). Taigah enjoyed school, growing up as an athlete and playing girls' softball. She participated in several programs like Summer Institute at UC Berkeley, Black girls code, and National Society of Black Engineers, and Stanford University's Black Student Union youth empowerment initiative. It was clear from an early age that Taigah was determined to succeed in life. It was also important to Taigah that she give back to the community by participating in various programs to feed the homeless. Taigah was so excited and proud to start her journey in academia at Hampton University, an HBCU in Hampton, Virginia. As a double major in Journalism and Computer Science, she was on track to achieve all her dreams. However, an unexpected diagnosis of Lymphoma cancer in the second semester of her freshman year altered her course and led her back to the Bay Area where she would fight with all her might to beat it. Sadly, Taigah was unable to overcome the effects of her illness and on October 19, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, she transitioned. Because Taigah's life was so impactful in just 19 years, her legacy will now continue through the great work of The Taigah Alexis Brown Foundation.
